At 24, Daisy Lowe is already quite the modelling veteran after treading the catwalk for several years.

However, despite her young age, the daughter of rocker Gavin Rossdale admits she has her head firmly on her shoulders when it comes to her body image.

Despite being in the notoriously skinny modelling world, the brunette beauty admits she has accepted she will never be part of the size zero brigade.

Instead, she is happy to embrace her curves and hopes to be a healthier role model for young girls.



Although she admits she has battled insecurities over her body, on the whole, she feels confident with who she is.
She tells the new issue of Graziamagazine: 'Being skinny just doesn’t suit me.

'Just this morning I was getting loads of tweets from girls – "I am so disgusting, I hate the way I look" - and I was like, "You are really pretty, stop it!"

'At my gym, the trainers are really like life coaches. And for the past two years it’s been about them hammering all those insecurities out of me.'

Daisy admits there have been times when she has been too big for outfits on modelling shoots.

She explained: 'There have definitely been moments where I have been very upset at some shoot when the clothes didn’t fit, and you feel horrendous about yourself.

'I can sit here and say, "I love being curvy", but of course there are pressures to be thinner. Stick you next to a 15-year-old Russian model doing the shows and these look like thunder thighs.'

Daisy's gym schedule means she can treat herself to what food she likes.

She said: 'I just like food too much – it is one of the great pleasures.

'My complete being is the opposite [of skinny]. I am quite maternal, I love to bake, I love all that homely thing.'
