Haven't we seen that somewhere before? Kate Moss recycles rope used by David Beckham in Armani campaign for her 39th Vogue cover
Eagle-eyed followers of fashion noticed something distinctly familiar about the June cover of Vogue magazine when it was unveiled this week.
The cover, Kate's 39th for the fashion bible, featured the Croydon-born model star as an 'Olympic goddess' for Vogue's gold issue.
Wearing a gold and white Versace dress and gold crescent-shaped Kara Ross earrings, she poses with a thick coil of rope wrapped around her body.
Look familiar? Kate's cover for Vogue's gold issue saw the model pose with a thick coil of rope wrapped around her body - the same as was used in David Beckham's Armani campaign in 2009
Dazzling: A second picture of the model, printed inside the magazine, sees her wear a Dolce & Gabbana crystal-embroidered body, Erickson Beamon gold chainmail vest and Louis Vuitton shoes
But it soon transpired that the Croydon-born supermodel was not the first global icon to have wrapped their limbs around the prop.
Back in 2009, the same rope was used in the Armani campaign, where it was wound round the well-oiled limbs of one David Beckham.
It also featured in another shot, where Victoria and David posed entwined on top of its coils.
The coincidence becomes rather less uncanny, however, when one considers that both photoshoots were the work of the same photographic duo.
All tied up: David Beckham struck a similar pose for his Armani advert back in 2009, shot by the same photographers who worked on Kate's Vogue cover
Well oiled: Victoria Beckham sits astride her husband David on top of the huge rope for the 2009 campaign for Emporio Armani underwear
Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott were behind both this month's Vogue cover, and were also the creative brains behind the Beckhams' Armani advert - and clearly they were rather fond of the aesthetic effect of the rope.
The highly acclaimed two are some of the most sought-after snappers of our time, and are widely credited with shaping the look and feel of fashion photography over the past decade.
Their work has featured innumerable times in Vogue and other magazines and, as well as working with such high profile names as Madonna, Scarlett Johansson and Kylie Minogue, Alas and Piggott have shot campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Givenchy and Roberto Cavalli, among others.
the glossy cover shot is supplemented by a glossy fashion shoot inside the magazine, in which the supermodel wears a Swarovski-crystal embroidered body by Dolce & Gabbana, a £6,463 gold-plated chainmail and crystal vest from Erickson Beamon and Louis Vuitton shoes.
