He's already delighted his loyal legion of fans by posing shirtless for a series of underwear collections, thanks to his long-standing collaboration with H&M.

And David Beckham has now well and truly made a splash by unveiling his new swimwear line for the Swedish retail giant.

Proving himself to be the very best of models, the 38-year-old sportsman showcased his buff body and tattooed torso as he posed in trunks, swimshorts and boardshorts in a positively smouldering shoot by acclaimed photographer Glen Luchford.

Although sometimes a somewhat dubious choice, the football megastar even married to carry off a pair of tiny white briefs with aplomb as he put his envy-inducing physique on display in all its glory.

Sporting an impressive golden tan, no doubt from his continual jet-set trips, the hunky father-of-four's intricate sleeve of tattoos and the delicate collection of inkings across his torso were on full display.

And despite his retirement from the world of professional football last year, Becks proved he is certainly still in possession of a rather impressive six-pack.

Consisting of three different styles - boardshorts, swimshorts and trunks, the swimwear extension of the David Beckham Bodywear collection will be available online and in selected H&M stores from May 2014.

As with every piece in the Bodywear range, the focus of the next step of the star's collaboration is on 'fit, performance, comfort and style'.

Beckham said: 'The success of my Bodywear collection at H&M has been fantastic, so I’m thrilled to be introducing these great swimwear pieces ready for the summer.

'We’ve worked hard to create new classics for men, with great fit, comfort and also style.'

This latest foray into the design world comes after the former LA Galaxy star comes after he expanded his Bodywear line with a children's collection earlier this year.

While the hunky sportsman isn't posing in skimpy swimwear, he is said to busy planning wife Victoria's upcoming 40th birthday celebrations.

With the fashion designer reaching the landmark age in two weeks, David has reportedly pulled out all the stops for a swanky birthday bash in Los Angeles, which will be attended by the couple's showbiz pals, Eva Longoria, Kate Beckinsale and Gordon Ramsay.

According to Grazia magazine, Veuve Cliquot will even being creating a special edition champagne in honour of the Spice Girls singer-turned-fashionista, while a £1million firework will take place to mark the occasion.

A source told the magazine: 'Victoria's had success, but she's always strived for more. And now, at last, she has everything she ever wanted.

'She has her family - complete now with three incredible boys and the gorgeous girl little girl she always craved - and the job of her dreams. People laughed at her when she asked to be taken seriously as a designer. Who's laughing now?'

David and Victoria raise sons, Brooklyn, 15, Romeo, 11, Cruz, nine, and daughter Harper, two, together.
